PHASED ARRAY TECHNIQUES IN NDT

Phased array techniques in non destructive testing is widely using nowadays due to its precision in material testing output results .It is widely using due to its simplicity of producing results as image and in the conventional mode.

What is Phased Array NDT?

It is a technique adapted in recent years mainly in eddy current testing and ultrasonic testing to simplify the needs of that particular technique.

Instead of using the source in a conventional technique the source is arranged in a phased manner which means a group of elements rather than a single element. This makes the system faster, more accurate, and can manipulate or calibrate according to the customer needs.

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing.

It is commonly known as PAUT which is the advancement of conventional A-scan testing. In A-scan pulse-echo technique is used to produce echo to identify the defects and which requires detailed examination. In PAUT a two dimensional image, echo pattern, linear and sector views  are created which gives more accurate interpretation of defects.
